If you don't have an interest in rocks and minerals yourself you might as well write this show off right away, because the jokes are unremarkable and little or no drama seems to be building. This is an almost purely informational show. But if you do, this show ought to be fun as it tells us interesting things like how stones sometimes move uphill and how Japan's location at the confluence of no less than four tectonic plates gives it's minerals great variety. The miraculous find of a trove of red garnet stones seemed too good to be true but in general I enjoyed episode one. On an unrelated note I noticed yet again how anime often hammer the message into viewers heads that they must obey laws and rules without question. If finding a trove of garnet was too good to be true, what happens in episode two is totally out of the question as Ruri and Nagi go looking for gold. A person who knows nothing about the subject would be likely to conclude that searching for precious gems and metals is remarkably easy based on this show. But it remained interesting to me (though I wish we had been told why this is 'placer' gold).
