Freelance photographer Kōya Madoka finds himself in a slump due to a certain reason. He goes to Fuji International Speedway to work on a story, and he meets the highschool F4 racer Haruka Asahina. He suddenly finds his heart racing after not feeling much for a long time. With that, he starts supporting Haruka and the "Komaki Motors" youth team to help Haruka achieve his dreams.

Overtake!
(One episode watched):
A sort of burnt-out photographer discovers a new field of interest, namely Formula 4 racing, a lesser known form of auto racing that often serves as the 'opening act' for Formula 1. The animation and character designs were notably good. However, I didn't 'get' just what it was about this form of racing that excited Koya so much; I guess only he knows. Some event, apparently having to do with a storm at sea (if that wasn't just a metaphor) has demoralized Koya and apparently he needs something new to take interest in. At least we have gotten to know him and he seems likable. The charm of F4 seems to be that while it isn't cheap, you don't have to be a multimillionaire to compete. Apparently the second most important character will be Haruka Asahina, the driver for the Komaki Motors team. He seems to still be in high school and works as a newspaper carrier as well. We have barely met him at the end of the episode. So, I was left feeling sort of ambivalent about this show after one episode. Nothing repulses me but I'm not sure if the characters and plot will be of interest either. There's the standard test of 'what questions do I want answers for after the opening episode?', and I couldn't really think of any.
