This movie sequel to the Bem TV anime is set two years after the events of the series with the monster humans having gone their separate ways and Bem seemingly settled down with a human family of his own, while forgetting of his time as a monster-human. This film is more focused on Bem's character, whom did feel a bit underdeveloped compared to his companions, Belo and Bela, in the TV anime. There is more going on beneath the surface with Bem's situation, which the film isn't too subtle with implicating as its story develops with focus on another shady organization plotting to use Bem for their own ends. A certain mad scientist from the TV anime is helping them out and everyone involved is largely either shallowly evil or just a mindless mook to be slain. Tying into Bem's focus, Sonia Summers, the police officer observing the actions of Bem's group from the TV anime, returns to find the group and aid them against the evil organization while trying to make amends with them. She's more a form of emotional support and attempting to gather the pieces of the organization's plot here, but does contribute to a rather bittersweet ending that I'll admit caught me by surprise with how it ties into Bem's overall developments. Overall, I'll admit the film, while largely feeling pretty typical with its storytelling, did have its moments of engaging insight into Bem's character with his thoughts on desiring to be human and is at least a decent continuation of the Bem TV anime if it caught your interest.
