This OVA is mostly used as a compilation of the Gekiganger TV segments seen from the Nadesico TV anime and new animated footage made as a "movie" that Akito and several members of the Nadesico crew see at a theater. More a treat for old-school mecha anime fans who will be familiar with the nods to older mecha titles and the cliches that come with it considering this is a homage to Mazinger Z.
