The titular hero of the film attempts to learn more about his origins while being caught up in the conflict between the three major gods of Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades. Arion gains allies as he journeys and deals with the Titans attempting to kill him since he threatens their influence on humanity. The story offers some solid twists in its plot direction at points, though the quick pacing for it and Arion being rather shallow as a character does detract from the viewing experience in spite of the epic scale of its story involving war between the gods and humanity's struggles against it. I do see potential with the film's premise and had it been a TV anime or OVA series given time to spread out its story, the epic scale it attempts to depict with Arion may have been more interesting to see develop. As is though, it has its moments of potential that are sadly hindered by the film's length being too restrictive for the scale of its story. Last updated Saturday, September 18 2021. Arion is a somewhat more closer depiction of times in the reign of the Olympian Gods compared to Saint Seiya, with humanity the playthings of the gods and many of them being rather corrupt with their power and influence. A fair number of liberties are taken with the mythical lore of the Greeks such as many of the Olympian gods being regarded as Titans in this film, Apollo depicted to be as villainous as his fellow gods while he was actually among the more benevolent of them, and Arion actually being the name of a fast horse that saved the life of an Argos king. ||||||||
