'Weird' seemed a particularly appropriate keyword for this show. All sorts of bizarre touches are pitched at us--a girl who can shatter a boulder with her fist; water is especially prized; the girls eat glowing 'leaves' from a tree; one of them can transform into a long hose or cable (with fox ears); etc--but we get little idea how these bits and pieces fit together or what in general is going on. A WTF show. The sheer weirdness of the characters and their inexplicable abilities reminded me of Houseki no Kuni. Making sense of it wasn't made any easier by the fact that ANN offered no synopsis on the page that was devoted to it--perhaps they were as confused as I was. The one semblance of a frame of reference is that Wakaba, a boy who claims to be human, turns up--though not surprisingly he has no idea how he wound up where he is. I don't know if this show is saving an explanation of its premise for episode two or if it is just careless and half-assed. The reviewers at ANN say that this show was made by some of the same people who were behind Kemono Friends, which I was not thrilled by--though apparently it was a hit in Japan (and was set in a post-apocalyptic world--who would have guessed that?). I wouldn't mind finding out what's going on here, but the discordant tangle of bits of evidence without any pattern being evident makes my head hurt, so I don't know if I will watch any more.
