Locke the Superman is a competent 80s sci-fi anime film focused on the titular character attempting to stop an old foe attempting to control the galaxy with an army of espers. The plot fleshes out enough of its major characters and their motivations for viewers to care for them and the conflict is suspenseful enough with some decent enough plot twists to make it an entertaining watch, without oozing in melodramatics or ultra-violent content as a number of older anime films get in the bad habit of doing. It does have its issues with Locke being rather overpowered as a lead character, outdated visuals, and the film seemingly assuming its viewers have familiarity with its manga source material with Locke and Lady Kahn having a past rivalry with one another. Still, this is a solid 80s anime sci-fi film that I'd at least recommend old-school fans check out at least once.
