Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet
(One episode watched):|
This show, which seems to be loosely based on Romeo and Juliet, struck me as neither terrible nor outstanding. The main characters have some personality and their forbidden romance is sort of intriguing; and there are a few laughs. On the other hand, I can't say that the story really 'grabbed' me as intriguing or struck me as truly original. Perhaps the problem is that the stakes are not terribly high--I doubt if this story will end in the tragic manner that Shakespeare's play did. Another potential problem is that the basic question--can the leaders of opposing factions fall in love?--seems to have been largely answered in episode one, so there must be some other conflict on the way, but I have little idea what it might be. If there were fewer really good shows this season then perhaps I would watch this one, but the competition is stiff.
