Other than hearing of its infamy as one of anime's all-time duds, I recall hearing of Ninja Resurrection being falsely advertised as a sequel to Ninja Scroll back when ADV Films originally released the OVA to video nearly 20 years ago. While the premise of exploring Japan's persecution of Christians during the feudal era does have potential for potential storytelling, Ninja Resurrection wastes its possibilities on being a mindless gore-fest with Jubei and others violently killing their enemies in a number of gory ways and delighting in some disturbing sexual scenes that involve necrophilia, rape, and demonic possession. While the OVA is decently animated for its time period, this isn't enough to save Ninja Resurrection as a rather forgettable and horrible violent schlock-fest that embellishes being violent and depraved with its content.
