Regalia: The Three Sacred Stars (Part of one episode watched): I don't know if it was more the fault of the anime or the fault of me, but I had an extremely hard time mustering the slightest interest in this show. Something about two sisters, one of whom wants to get closer to the other, but finds that she's actually some sort of non-human mecha pilot. You would think that a sensational discovery like that would be tailor-made for excitement and intrigue, but I was daydreaming throughout this show because that seemed like a much more entertaining thing to do. There are things characters say which make them into interesting and likeable people, and there are things they say which just leave you bored and eager to do something else. If you're going to employ often-used bits like 'Oh, I've been chosen to serve as a mecha pilot', you've got to do something original to set your show apart from the crowd. A lengthy battle seemed like little more than a waste of time since the basic premise was completely uninteresting. I fast-forwarded through part of the show, and at the end felt that I had no idea of what was going on (which made writing a synopsis for this series especially difficult) or why I should care. Why is the supposedly elder sister decidedly smaller? Is that a joke of some sort? Why do the girls tend to have facial expressions as if they have just beheld something incredible for the first time and cannot speak? Again, it might be that at the time I watched it I was pretty exhausted, but this show just seemed to have nothing original which caught my eye. Last updated Tuesday, November 08 2016.
