In the middle of class at a certain school, Rumi Yokoi, a diligent student, has her in-class life turned upside-down when her next-door desk mate "Seki" (full name Toshinari Seki) begins to play by himself at his desk in class. Although Yokoi is irked by Seki's distracting yet intricate playtime, she finds herself being drawn into his interesting hobby. Never being able to focus, Yokoi observes Seki's stunning ways of slacking off in class.

Well, there is nothing whatsoever offensive about this show; just a strange guy who does strange things on his school desk in the middle of classes like setting up an elaborate set of dominoes to tip in sequence, or dumping a pail of sand there to play a beach game called 'don't tip the flag'. It just seems to me that each episode basically consists of one central joke which we must wait eight minutes for, and it usually isn't LOL funny when it comes. In other words, the show has a meager time:laugh ratio. But a lot of 23 minute shows are guilty of the same, so I can't be angry at Tonari. It just is what it is. There is also a twelve-minute OAD.
