In a convenient world where vending machines offer just about everything, the hero procures whatever he needs from machines on his journey to see the creator. The story is very simple: he tries to make a replacement purchase of the earth. But the creator declines his request, saying simply that there's no such thing as a brand new earth.

Push is Osamu Tezuka's effort at depicting humanity being oblivious to the suffering inflicted on the environment because of man's fixation on their personal conveniences. This is emphasized with the male lead of the short getting whatever he needs on his journey through machines before encountering the creator (God) and not comprehending that fixing up the Earth isn't so convenient as he would assume. The animation used here is rather simple in details compared to experimental works Tezuka worked on in the 80s, which apparently came about from this short being a quick fix due to the delay in production of another work the God of Manga was putting together for a film festival. Still, this is a decent short that can stand on its own merits with emphasizing Tezuka's concerns on man's ignorance of its environment.
