This TV special focused on a woman reflecting on her past made for an engaging watch for its 25 minute run. Kawamo no Suberu Kaze explores the past and present circumstances of Noriko from her days in high school working at her family's bakery to going through divorce with her estranged husband. The special does quite well exploring Noriko's character for its 25-minute run showing different points within her life, including the significance of a quiet young man she met at her bakery from high school. The visuals to the series appear to mix regular animation in the form of the realistic character designs and the photo-realistic backgrounds of the city scenery as Noriko travels about. The character designs are drawn to look like real people thus you won't be expecting any of the the conventional drawing styles used for facial and anatomical features you would expect in more popular titles. While the photo-realistic backgrounds are a nice sight to see, they do stick out quite prominently from the regular animation seen in this special. Music was mostly subdued and used to convey the everyday developments faced by Noriko, though nothing of note stuck out for me too strongly here. Otherwise, not much else to really say. This special won't be for everyone thanks to both its short length and intended focus being on the mundane. But if you are looking for a break from the many recent anime titles that seem to either pander to the otaku crowd or not having anything to break the mold, Kawamo no Suberu Kaze does make for a solid 25-minute time killer and probably a title that young women would have interest in relating with if they are anime fans.
