Have to wonder if Rumiko Takahashi would be better off creating short story manga bits like this instead of her long-running titles because this was the best stuff I seen from her to date. From what I understand, the manga adaptations of these shorts were developed around the time Maison Ikkoku came out. As a result, all the stories for this anthology series consist of domestic household setups with a unique twist that a central character deals with. From a housewife having to babysit the pet penguin of her husband's boss to a middle-aged father recalling his days with a female classmate towards an upcoming school reunion, the storylines are simple enough to follow in what they are trying to convey and producing either touching or hilarious results as each story is solid in its delivery of twists within the developments of each self-contained story. Of course, this series won't be for those looking for more action or continuity within the plots of their anime. But if you are looking for something seemingly down-to-earth with some silly elements mixed in, you can't go wrong with the shorts within Rumic Theater.
