The series is about a Demon named Neuro that feeds on mysteries. He came to the human world after consuming all the mysteries in his world. In the human world, he meets Katsuragi Yako, forces her to become a detective and acts as her 'assistant' in order to protect his identity, while he searches for the 'ultimate mystery' for him to consume. But why would Katsuragi Yako follow him? Does she also have a mystery which he will one day consume?

Well as Stretch explained, this series mixes supernatural comedy and mystery with a number of episodic mysteries that Neuro and Yoko get caught up in. The mystery element plays out much like Detective Conan featuring murders with overly-elaborate and contrived plots where the master detective (Neuro) uses a stand-in (Yako) to take credit for the cases to avoid bringing attention to himself. However with the supernatural comedy element tossed in, said criminals turn into ridiculous-looking monsters when busted and are meant to personify the depraved emotions they have and Neuro literally consuming the "mystery" that centers on them. Also, the show makes a running gag of Neuro physically tormenting Yako for his personal amusement. I could care less about the mystery element yet the comedy element did hook me at first as I thought the series would be some sort of satire on shounen mystery titles. Unfortunately, the comedy eventually lost its touch for me as it became as repetitive as the mystery format that each episode of the series set up. Even with the occasional plot developments such as how Yako met up with Neuro and they got their detective agency, the show's comedy and mystery developments were still the same as they had been without having some sort of diversity in their developments. I guess I can drop this title without a final review.

Unevaluated Stretch [series:1802#628]
(Four episodes watched):

After reading lucy-san's highly enthusiastic review I gave MTNN a look. After the brief prologue it becomes clear pretty quickly what sort of arrangement there is between Katsuragi and the demon Neuro--at the end of episode one it's (partially) explained how this came about. Yes, Neuro really does "feed" on mysteries--I was wondering if I had understood that correctly. MTNN reminded me of Detective Conan, what with there being what seems to everyone to be a brilliant detective who is in fact basically a puppet for another secret genius. At least MTNN has a more plausible method of the genius making indirect accusations via Yako (though at times it seems that Neuro isn't even trying to hide the fact that he's the actual detective). Neuro has promised to solve a personal mystery for Yako (if she serves him as his "dummy" in the meantime), but apparently hasn't done so yet. The animation seems average, as does the humor. Neuro's attitude of contempt for humans can be amusing at times, but can also be overdone which makes me start hating him. At least he is largely indifferent to those who aren't to blame for some sort of mysterious crime. This show has a touch of amusing weirdness, such as the business being called the "Katsuragi Yako Demon World Detective Agency" (which, another employee points out, isn't likely to draw customers). The episodes are already seeming repetitive to me; Neuro has little trouble deducing who is guilty and the explanation of exactly how the crime was committed is the only actual touch of mystery. Furthermore, it is pretty obvious who the guilty party will be in in each case which Yako and Neuro investigate; if only one suspect is introduced (and they have a snide look on their face), you can be pretty sure that's the one!

My favorite line: "This case is full of the fragrant smell of mystery" --Neuro

Love it Love it Love it!

it's so good, so interesting, so funny.

This series is like nothing i have ever watched before, its very different and that what i like about it.

Although this series is about mystery it doesn't actually focus on it but more like using it to develop the story. As i've watched further the story seems to develop and i actually get an understanding of each of the characters and their backgrounds.

Apart from the interesting story which always keeps you wanting more. I have to say that they juggle the comedy in really well (although most of it is in SD mode). I like it when Neuro calls Yako and Godai servant no. 1 and servant no. 2 LOL! , they also use similarities such as the brand of Godai's car is called Zeep ahahaha!

After 20 episodes i am confident to say that this is probably one of the best series i have ever watched. and i'm not hesitating to recommend this to everyone.
