This "movie" felt like a typical episode I would see out of the TV series which only made it all the better for me. Here, Kino visits a technologically-advanced country that tries to pass itself off as a clean and healthy place despite it's eerie name of Land of Disease. But like the other countries Kino's visited, the Land of Disease has its dark side presenting a philosophical focus on the country's morality in response to the very disease that earned the country its name. Kino still retains her neutral mindset when she observes the culture and people within the country thus viewers are still left to decide whether the actions of the country are right or wrong for themselves. And as usual, Hermes is around to lighten the mood to the philosophical themes present in this movie.

I took notice of the better quality artwork for -For You- as the landscapes for the Land of Disease were animated in CG doing well to show off the height of the skyscrapers and advanced technology of the country's civilization. Character designs looked more detailed as well since Kino looked better-looking than she did in the TV series and first "movie."

If you're a Kino's Journey fan, then this will be a definite watch for you featuring the same old Kino and Hermes. Anyone else curious over the series are also free to watch this as a stand-alone piece since you wouldn't need to have prior knowledge of the TV series to see this movie. But like the TV series, this won't be a title for those who prefer more manic-paced titles or something that is less philosophically focused.

Another sardonic tale of Kino and her motorcycle Hermes.

While on their travels, they encounter a hidden subterranean village. The people that live in the village are both kind and friendly, and a little girl takes a special liking to Kino. She tells Kino that she has a penpal who lives in village on surface some distance away, but she has not heard from her friend in a while. She asks that Kino travel to the village, to check on her friend and to deliver a letter.

And after three days, Kino and Hermes leave to search out the village ......

While they might call this a movie, it is really just another chapter or episode in the original series. The quality of the animation and music is the same. If you enjoyed the original series, then you might want to watch this one too.

(Just remember - this series can be very dark at times)
