The students at the all-girls Hanaoka high school were excited when they heard that a group of boys would be attending for semester. What they were expecting was a group of smart and elegant boys, but they end up with was a pack of shy country boys, with a couple of real perverts in the mix.

Single episode OVA (27 minutes), produced by Media Factory

Usually an OVA doesn't do much to advance the series that it spawned from. Here, it was especially true.

Art, Animation & Character Designs
The art and animation was about the same as the series. Nothing has changed here. Actually, let me take that back. It seems the animation has dropped a few frames.

Music
The OP was nothing special. In fact the music through this OVA was not even noticeable.

Series and Episode Story
There was nothing to this OVA. It was a piece purely for perverse humor and silly antics. Even though the series itself didn't really have a plot to speak of, here, it was literally so. Still, it wasn't a total loss.... otherwise I wouldn't have picked it up. It's still fun to watch (barely), for the humor and the silly antics.

Overall, if you're a fan of this series, it might catch your interest. Otherwise, simply move on to "green"er pastures.

Unfortunately this OVA isn't significantly better than the highly perverted TV series.
True, the degree of perversion is significantly lower, the characters aren't that extreme, and the story is much more down to earth than in the series. Then again, the characters are just not interesting and the time for character development is way too short. If you have seen the series you understand what these characters are supposed to be, and why - but in the OVA they are neither plausible nor funny.
What's more, the whole story development is missing. The series had time to build up a certain expectation of the audience and come to a certain conclusion; the OVA is lacking on both sides, jumping in the middle of the story and ending without completing anything. Midori's story in the series may be hard to believe but her behavior in this OVA is not that plausible either. And Futaba - who's the best character in the series - is just a one-dimensional bully in the OVA.
I agree that the series is way too ecchi. But this OVA is simply boring. Now which one is better? If there were a version with 4-6 episodes, the tone & fan-service level of the OVA and the story & character development of the series... this would be a "Rent".

Rent Jan-Chan [series:1228#967]
This is a standalone pilot for the TV series Green Green which was released in the following year. It has a same characters in the same setting, but with a lot less of the pervert and ecchi action that was part of the TV series.
