Yukito Urabi was a member of a bizarre cult led by his father which worships the Goddess Mitama. In the Ritual of Musubi he was assured that if he steadfastly believed in her he could survive being thrown over a cliff and into the sea in a barrel. Yukito has little faith and wishes instead that he may be reborn in a religion-free world. Sure enough, he finds himself somehow transferred to an isekai world which has no religion but instead has a strange state managed system by which people die. At first glance, Kamiyama Samataro might look like an average 2nd year high school student, but he has to work very hard to maintain that image and keep his family secrets hidden. Even with Tenko, his childhood friend, looking after him, things are always going wrong. Not that it is really Tenko’s fault, she is Samataro's guardian Angel and being an Angel, she does not understand what it means to be human. It Samataro’s parents that are impossible and tend to be the cause of a lot of his troubles. His father is a God who is not beyond lending his son a bit of magical help, but his mother is no better. She is Goddess with no shame or modesty, who likes to dress up as a high school cheerleader to show her favor for her eldest son. Samataro’s sisters are at least understanding and usually helpful. While they are goddess candidates with special powers, they are the same situation as he is and are having to put up with their parents decision to have their kids learn about normal people by spending time living in the human world. |

Falsely accused of the crime, he flees from his village and meets a priest named Tenkai, who has him kill a rogue ninja named Tarouza. After fulfilling that task, Jiro undergoes training to become a master assassin. Many years later, Jiro finds out that he was an orphan and his real father was Tarouza, who had worked for Tenkai until he aborted his mission when he fell in love with an Ainu woman. The young ninja discovers that the Shogunate was to retrieve the lost treasure of Captain Kidd and use it to once again isolate Japan from the rest of the world. Using the clues that Tarouza had kept secret, Jiro - along with the female ninja Oyuki and a slave named Sam - travels to Russia and America to search for the treasure in hopes of using it to extract revenge from Tenkai. |
