I remember that the first season of Kamisama Hajime had a sweet, pleasing tone to it, with decent jokes and intriguing romance. But while KH2 is visually identical to the original series, the vibe I get is that this sequel is going to have a somewhat different tone. What we get this time around is a hit-or-miss slapstick approach to comedy, with characters sometimes getting punched or injured—that definitely wouldn't have happened back during KH1. The distinctive wit the show once had now seems to have faded away; once I realized what had happened I could only feel that this new version was tiresome and I wanted it to hurry up and be over. Goofy cute animals, which haven't got minds of their own (but will gladly scratch or bite people) don't appeal to me. This was a definite disappointment; if KH2 had been as good as before, I would have gladly watched it. Last updated Friday, January 09 2015. Created Friday, January 09 2015. |
