Superior spiritual beings known as Gods have descended to Earth. They did this because they had become terribly bored and had decided to set up a system in which humans could play games with them. Games take place within what are known as Elements, 'the playground of the Gods'. Humans players, or Apostles, are granted an ability known as Arise, which makes them temporarily immortal. If they win a game they are allowed to keep some of the special abilities they gained during it. Three losses permanently disqualifies an Apostle from further games. Anyone who wins ten games will be given a 'Celebration', though exactly what that is remains unknown. So far the best Apostle is Fay Theo Philus, who has won three. He is summoned to take charge of Lady Leoleshea, who was found frozen in a 3,000 year old glacier and is believed to be a God herself. |

Yukito Urabi was a member of a bizarre cult led by his father which worships the Goddess Mitama. In the Ritual of Musubi he was assured that if he steadfastly believed in her he could survive being thrown over a cliff and into the sea in a barrel. Yukito has little faith and wishes instead that he may be reborn in a religion-free world. Sure enough, he finds himself somehow transferred to an isekai world which has no religion but instead has a strange state managed system by which people die. When he finds himself in trouble for objecting to it, he is saved--by the Goddess Mitama. |

After her father having run away due to gambling debts, and being evicted from her apartment, Momozono Nanami meets Mikage, a strange man who is afraid of dogs. Nanami "saves" Mikage from a dog and tells him her story. He gives Nanami his house as a thank you. Having nowhere else to go, Nanami accepts the offer. Upon arriving, however, she finds that it is a rundown shrine. Nanami is then almost killed by Tomoe, Mikage's fox-eared 'familiar' who was expecting Mikage to finally return after his 20 year absence. She is then greeted by both Onikiri and Kotetsu, who proclaim her the new land god of the shrine. |

Her 'being a god' thing continues as she was given a test by Otohiko, a wind god, to determine her capability to attend the Divine Assembly in Izumo. |

At first glance, Kamiyama Samataro might look like an average 2nd year high school student, but he has to work very hard to maintain that image and keep his family secrets hidden. Even with Tenko, his childhood friend, looking after him, things are always going wrong. Not that it is really Tenko’s fault, she is Samataro's guardian Angel and being an Angel, she does not understand what it means to be human. It Samataro’s parents that are impossible and tend to be the cause of a lot of his troubles. His father is a God who is not beyond lending his son a bit of magical help, but his mother is no better. She is Goddess with no shame or modesty, who likes to dress up as a high school cheerleader to show her favor for her eldest son. Samataro’s sisters are at least understanding and usually helpful. While they are goddess candidates with special powers, they are the same situation as he is and are having to put up with their parents decision to have their kids learn about normal people by spending time living in the human world. |

She is Nagi, a Shinto spirit, the guardian of the village and she is really annoyed that her sacred tree was cut down. Having no place to live, Nagi is forced to move in with Jin and tries to accept her new existence by venting her anger and cleaning the "Impurities" that appear as bugs. |
