Though this will probably amount to nothing more than yet another magical academy anime, episode one managed to seem fairly novel and hold my interest. Things like Riselia getting killed (but then being revived by Leonis) were unexpected. There's a sort of sincere bond between them after she risked her life to protect him (though Leonis was really in no danger), and it seems that she will be a sort of big sister to him. There's the thousand year old prophecy and the much more recent problem of Voids, though Voids don't really excite me. Maybe there will be a link between the two. It seems that at one point Leonis was a hero himself, i.e, a fighter against Demons, before becoming one of the six Demon Lords. Leonis' true identity remains a secret and I wonder what escapades a Demon Lord might have in a magical academy. Anyway, episode one managed to largely avoid being stereotypical and predictable, and I am curious what episode two will bring. Episode two wasn't particularly novel, however. In fact, I think I can see where the entire plot is going: Leo, who was once the arch enemy of mankind, will become its savior as he defeats the new enemy, the Voids. He can do this because he was once a hero before going over to the dark side, and with the help of a harem of hot girls will rediscover the values he once held. Also predictable was the asshole bully, Rhodes, who thinks he's something special when in fact he can't hold a candle to Leo. After one good and one disappointing episode my impressions of this show were back to where they started. Last updated Friday, November 24 2023. Created Wednesday, November 08 2023. |
