Long ago, alien lifeforms came to Earth, fusing with people on the planet. Due to their appearance, they were dubbed "Mecha-ude," as when fused, they bore a striking resemblance to mechanized limbs.
Through an involuntary partnership, average middle schooler Hikaru Amatsuga works alongside the Mecha-ude Arma, who is an extremely rare and special existence. To protect Arma, the resistance group ARMS assigns the dual Mecha-ude user Aki Murasame to follow him wherever he goes. However, she is also looking for a mysterious Snake-Type Mecha-ude wielder, who has put many of her comrades in a critical state.
Behind the scenes, an organization known as the Kagami Group is searching for the mythical "Trigger Arm," a Mecha-ude said to grant unlimited power. When Aki's life is threatened by this group, Hikaru must team up with Arma to find the courage to fight back and, along the way, learn that his life will never be ordinary again.

Mecha-Ude
It looks like Mecha-Ude exists as some sort of promotional pitch for a possible TV anime down the line with how its plot is laid out, which explains its Kickstarter roots similar to Kick-Heart. The premise involving sentient mechanical arms being symbiotically bonded to human hosts sticks out well enough, though its plotting and characters veer quite heavily into shounen-inspired cliche territory which may not be everyone's cup of tea depending on their reception to it. There is a good deal to Mecha-Ude's plot and characters largely unexplored, though this seems deliberate for the possible pitch angle to the short's animated development. Artwork's a bit on the rough side at points with character designs, though offers some decent action sequences that include a couple action scenes involving Mecha-Ude hosts. I'd at least say give it a look at least once. Whether or not something bigger comes along out of this will come down to the amount of attention and viewer reception it receives.
