↗Dennis the Menace (and I am NOT referring to that potty mouthed pervert of a ↗Shin-chan). Ichiro is a troublesome bratty boy who is always doing something to piss-off his parents, the neighbors and the neighborhood. One of his silly pranks goes wrong and he gets injured as a result. The injury has gifted him with an ability to see and talk to ghosts!! It is a strange gift that forces Ichiro to see his world a bit differently, and in the process of helping these ghosts, he begins to grow a bit. His various (mis)adventures include allowing a spirit to possess him or trying to figure out why a ghostly pet is hanging around the neighborhood. But since Ichiro is always getting into trouble anyways, the odd things that he has to do to help these spirits are easily accepted as part of his misbehavior. The style of animation is actually pretty good! The character animation is a bit weird, but strangely complementary with the story. Granted this series was created for kids, but its actually fairly sophisticated and enjoyable for adults too. There is an extra treat in that Ichiro lives in a very small, rural and traditional Japanese village (probably sometime in the early 1960's), which is an uncommon setting for a story. If you into goofy light-hearted comedies about the infinite troubles of a bratty boy, then this might be a surprising treat. Last updated Monday, May 25 2009. Created Monday, May 25 2009. |
