Kazuhiro Kitase is a salaryman who never works late. He goes straight home and plops into bed, because he has a special ability: when he falls asleep and goes into a dream, that dream is always in a videogame-like sword & sorcery fantasy world. If he gets killed while adventuring, he simply wakes up back in Japan. His comrade is elf sorceress Mariabelle "Marie". Kazuhiro had always assumed that this was, indeed, nothing but a dream. But one day while searching a dungeon both he and Marie get incinerated by a dragon--and Marie turns up in his bed alongside him.

(Three episodes watched):

I have often argued that what's needed in isekai anime is one in which instead of someone from Japan going to another world, someone from another world winds up in Japan. And here my wish is granted. But for such a bizarre scenario, this show managed to stay pretty unsurprising and predictable--almost as if it was trying to do so. Naturally Marie finds herself naked and in bed with Kazuhiro; what could be more unsurprising than that? (she knows him as 'Kazuhiho' due to a typo he made while signing on to this videogame-like world). Episode one sets up the basic scenario (and some clothing is acquired for Marie) and that's about it; I wasn't sure what Keywords, like 'Action', 'Comedy', or 'Romance' to select, though 'Fanservice' was obviously appropriate. The question is, what is the difference between an Elf woman and a Japanese one? Marie has pointed ears, but other than that about the only one is that she could employ magic, and I bet she will still be able to do so in Japan, because who wants an isekai anime without magic? Other questions also come to mind, like what will happen when the two of them fall asleep? Even in Japan, they are speaking to each other in Elf language, aren't they? I thought one interesting point was when Marie wondered if what had happened to her was that she had died and been resurrected. Kazuhiro assures her that wasn't what happened, but how can he be sure? Anyway, it looks like a black-haired woman will become a third main character. And the artwork of this show can be above par. And Marie behaves like an excited tourist. But no sign of the central conflict. While it is frustrating that so much hasn't happened yet, I am intrigued enough to be on board for episode two.

After a day in modern Japan, Kazuhiro and Marie lay down to sleep and see what will happen. As they had hoped, they are both transported back to fantasy world. They decide they had better make peace with the Arkdragon that killed them last time because they had discovered the lair where its eggs are laid. The dragon is highly intelligent and curious and I realized that in all liklihood there was a connection between her and the missing black-haired girl in the illustration above. I thought this turn of events kept the plotline from going stale, even if it was semi predictable. Now, can Marie return to Japan a second time? Or, should I say, how will Marie return to Japan a second time. It turns out that there's no need to get killed again, she simply wakes up in Japan just like Kazuhiro does. In episode three Marie gets to work learning the Japanese language and makes rapid progress. She mentions responsibilities she has back in the videogame world which she still intends to carry out. While on a minor quest they happen upon a miserable orphan with some sort of magical powers who they will no doubt liberate from the bandits who are exploiting her. No mention of Arkdragon in this episode.
