Suikoden was based on a video game (surprise! Another shitty video game adaption!) Mediocre at best on all counts, it seems like Suikoden doesn't even try. It seems like it was just defacated out and aimed at game fans. Apparently, if they thought gamers would like this drivel, the makers have as low an opinion of game geeks as I do. Anyway, Suikoden ambles along a vague storyline involving a crime syndicate, pausing every so often for token, unimaginitive fights, horrendous Rambo clones, and homophobia gags. Eventually, our heroes confront the head baddies and...surprise! Kick their collective ass. The Rambo scenes reach new lows of anime stupidity, with one guy and his faithful M16 mowing down wave after wave of evil-doers who have guns but always seem to miss wildly. The only bright spot is the psychotic priest and nun and their cheesy quips as they blast away with heavy ordinance. Poor animation, a stupid and derivative plot, characters the audience couldn't care less about and a pathetic, bored dub from ADV makes Suikoden an avoid for even the most rabid anime fan.
