Arei no Kagami: Way to the Virgin Space
Arei no Kagami has many of the familiar writing elements found in sci-fi titles from Leiji Matsumoto with romanticizing space travel and dabbling into melodrama with exploring humanity's flaws when it involves violent conflict. This also carries the same writing flaws found in Leiji's works where he doesn't take the time to dabble into the particulars of the technology and society found within the world of his titles, this especially being an issue with this film's 26-minute runtime with how quick Daichi's group reaches the edge of the universe. I'd find this film to be more a treat for Leiji Matsumoto fans, as this is otherwise a largely forgettable film.
