Kurabe Teruhito finds himself in the strange land of New Kyoto, unable to remember much of anything about who he is, where he lives, etc. He learns that in order to live in this city--and potentially have any wish granted--a person must be able to play the odd game known as Build-Divide. He does remember one thing: he's on a mission to defeat 'The King', which will be done by beating him at Build-Divide.

(One episode watched):

Episode one of this show quickly began looking like an infomercial for the Build-Divide card game. We get a lesson in how to play the game, which resembles WIXOSS and other games that have appeared in anime. As is often the case, female avatars do the actual fighting after cards are played. The problem is, it didn't seem at all fun or interesting to me. It made little sense, and seemed more crude than sophisticated--something children might enjoy, but an adult would be embarrassed to admit partaking in. I was soon wishing the episode would hurry up and be finished. The only thing which slightly intrigued me was Kurabe's memory loss, but I bet this show will be 99% about the game and 1% about that. Actually, WIXOSS had fairly interesting characters and the stakes were high; the show this most reminds me of is Shadowverse. I don't want to spend my valuable time watching shallow characters play a game that I wouldn't play myself. Near the end, a sinister character remarks "Man, this is starting to get interesting!", but I could not disagree more. This is one show which I can write off after one episode with confidence that I have made the right call and won't be missing much.
