The plot for this Pokemon movie is similar to a few past ones where a human Pokemon trainer attempts to exploit the powers of a legendary Pokemon for personal gain. While the trainer in question here is not totally villainous compared to prior films, he still doesn't make for a compelling character to give a hoot about. The film also attempts to try creating some sort of bond between Jirachi and Max, though the latter's rather bratty character makes this also rather difficult to care for. Beyond the improved visuals to the film over the TV anime, this is yet another forgettable film within the Pokemon franchise only worth seeing if you're a diehard fan.
