Itazura Majo to Nemuranai Machi
This baby's quite a bit on the bizarre side. Focused on Akari serving an internship with the NYPD around Christmas time, things get weird when a witch starts causing mischief throughout New York City by bringing toys, statues, and other inanimate objects to life with her magic; among which includes Akari's teddy bear Apple who becomes a tokusatsu-inspired superhero trying to thwart the witch's mischief. On the one hand, the premise brings about some fun creativity with the various things that the witch brings to life, including one amusing animated sequence where the witch uses Christmas trees as missiles to ward off Apple in her escapades. On the other hand, the ONA doesn't have much to show for a plot as its attempts to create one centered around the holidays feels flimsy at best and the witch's reasons for why she was bringing things to life that are revealed at the end of the film is not too convincing considering how much havoc she caused. Overall, I'd view Sorcery in the Big City more as a spectacle to watch due to the absurdity it brings about from the witch's antics, as it otherwise doesn't have enough solid elements in place for a plot or anything else that would be deep.
