Butlers Chitose Momotose Monogatari
(One episode watched):|
This was another show with too-cool-to-be-true guys, sort of a reverse harem except there's no girl at the center of it. I can only guess that these hunks are supposed to attract female viewers, because otherwise I found the show to be extremely boring. The central character, 'J', has an issue: apparently, his sister went missing at some point in the past, and he's trying to track her down. I say 'apparently' because the details are spotty at best. What happened to her? There is no answer, and this doesn't exactly seem to be an issue that is tearing him apart, since he is now serving as Student Council President at his new school. Right from the start, I did not get any sense of an interesting plot coming together and struggling through the entire episode was an ordeal. One thing that confused me even more was what role, if any, Butlers (the word appears in the title, after all) would play, and again I basically got no answer. A wide cast of characters was introduced, but I did not feel any point whatsoever in memorizing their names or faces. There was nothing special about the jokes, either. In short, too much mystery and too little solid foundation for a plot. I'm dreading having to write the synopsis for this show, because I still have only a vague idea of what it is all about. When I took a look at the ANN page for this show, the mention that the story would involve time travel threw me for a loop, since I hadn't noticed the slightest hint of it from the episode itself. I am confident that I will not be missing anything much if I decline to watch this show, which I will.
