"Mob" is a boy who will explode if his emotional capacity reaches 100%. This boy with psychic powers earned his nickname "Mob" because he does not stand out among other people. He keeps his psychic powers bottled up so he can live normally, but if his emotional level reaches 100, something will overwhelm his entire body.

Somehow I completely missed this show when it originally ran and had never heard of it until Ggultra2764 created this page. Episode one struck me as a show with good quality jokes--ones that actually make me laugh (sometimes) rather than just smile--but I was not thrilled by the 'exorcists versus demons' premise. It's hard for me to suspend disbelief and take shows of that sort seriously. Whether there will be any sort of interesting, developing long term plot remains unclear (and even this show isn't funny enough to do without one). But it looks good enough that I suspect I will watch the entire series.

Made by the creator behind One-Punch Man, Mob Psycho 100 milks its comedy off the seemingly emotionless Mob who has psychic powers and can unleash large amounts of said power when his emotional instability peaks. His powers lead him to cross paths with a variety of bizarre and sometimes dangerous adversaries that include spirits, rival espers, and an enemy organization of espers seeking world domination. Unlike OPM, the comedy for Mob Psycho was a bit hit or miss for me as I did snicker from some of the ridiculous abilities demonstrated by spirits and espers, and Mob's "master" Reigen is the fun character of the series with his deadpan and composed demeanor in response to all the paranormal happenings while being a normal human as he masquerades as an esper. But as the series is more focused on Mob, his character didn't do much to wow me with how flat he seemed in personality and motives. The visuals also don't help matters as it felt like Mob Psycho 100 was made on a lower budget compared to One-Punch Man and it shows with the somewhat more crude animation style and jerky animation. As a comedy, Mob Psycho 100 was more a "hit" than "miss" foe me yet it lacks the comical genius offered with One-Punch Man's comical focus on the superhero genre.
