Episode one of Onsen caught my attention because the show seemed to have an interesting premise: a guy stumbles across an amusing deity (who apparently can be in either adult or child mode) and makes a deal with her. What he gets, apparently, will be her help getting a girl he likes to like him as well. That was intriguing. But I guess I read too much into this show, because rather than exploit the near limitless potential of this premise, it went into a somewhat disappointing mode of dumb gags without any significant ongoing plot. As I have said before, any show which isn't funny enough to entertain me with jokes alone will need some sort of plot to pick up the slack, and there doesn't seem to be one here. I cannot remember what happened in the succeeding episodes, because the jokes were unmemorable and there doesn't seem to be any story worth keeping track of either. As it is, I can't even remember which of these girls the guy has a crush on; the show has gone into a sort of 4-koma mode instead of making any attempt to tell a story. Or maybe a very short story is being stretched out across far more episodes than would be needed to tell it if it weren't for all the dumb jokes. But it doesn't demand much of my time, is modestly amusing, and I didn't mind watching even if my hopes were elevated unrealistically then dashed early on. What killed it for me was the erratic arrival of fansubs--I don't mean to bite the hand that feeds me, but the delivery of new fansubs has seemed unpredictable lately, and this show wasn't worth the trouble of waiting.
