Well, at least this show wasn't another 'fanservice suitable girls replace Samurai warlords' series; instead it's a time-travel premise, and when impossible stuff happens there is always potential for an interesting story. Unfortunately, I didn't find NC to be terribly interesting or funny. For one thing, this show makes the common mistake of having a protagonist who has undergone some sort of mind-blowing experience casually shrugging it off. It reminds me of 'Bill and Ted's Great Adventure in Medieval Japan', as Saburo doesn't even seem to take what's happening to him all that seriously. But taking that tack demands good comedy, and I didn't notice any here. What would be most intriguing would be seeing how a guy with a realistic personality that we can identify with deals with being thrust into such an absurd situation; stuff like facing the possibility that he will never see his home again, and how he adapts in order to survive. But here that opportunity is shoved aside in favor of what will apparently be Saburo casually playacting the role of Nobunaga, with about as much seriousness as if this were a video game. So, this show is pretty simplistic really, and since it doesn't seem to want to stretch the envelope much, it isn't all that novel either. This almost seems like a mere skeleton of a story, which makes me think that if they weren't going to do anything more than this, I wish they had asked me to spice the story up a little.
