Having watched only episode 3 I'm not sure whether I would like it as it appears to add a D&D-like fantasy-adventure element at this stage.
In order not to spoil too much, I will only state that this story takes a much darker turn once you learn more about Souta, and that the explanation behind the nature of the flags will most likely become the main story.

(One-and-a-half episodes watched): What was that show about the guy who had to romance 100 different girls, and was assigned a cute demon girl to assist him? The premise of this show reminds me of that one, except here the male protagonist is given a sort of supernatural power rather than a supernatural assistant. I guess what they have in common is likening real life to romantic video games. Here, a guy can somehow see 'flags' appear on people's heads which mark options--like, do you intervene or not? If a 'love' flag appears, do you accept the girl's affection or reject her? But the premise here isn't as solid as it was on the other show. There's no explanation of why these flags exist, they just do; in the other one supernatural powers at least were responsible for the situation, which is better than no explanation at all. I don't understand Hatate, why he has this special ability, why he avoids people, or what the significance of his being the sole survivor of a shipwreck is. He isn't developed all that much (though I can feel a little sympathy for him since he lives in poverty). And, since the jokes are not particularly funny, this show has a pretty meager entertainment menu to offer to the viewer. Maybe something interesting will happen, but this is looking like a harem anime, so probably not. I watched a bit of episode two after reading Devil Doll's comments. But the inane atmosphere of hyper-cute girls with their mouths in high gear quickly re-convinced me that there was no way a serious plot that would be of interest to me could ever come together here.
