Basically yet another slice-of-life comedy on a group of high school girls who are friends, with the gimmick in this one involving one level-headed girl putting up with her two dense and air-headed friends in something similar to a boke and tsukkomi routine. This makes the humor for Yuyushiki a bit more obnoxious than the norm for many slice-of-life comedies of its ilk I have watched since the stupidity of the two girls and their level-headed friend putting up with it made it rather unbearable for me to watch through at a number of points. Unless comedy of this style is something you enjoy, I'd skip this one.

I noticed that the ANN page devoted to Yuyushiki did not use the keyword 'comedy', and that may have been correct. I did not laugh once while watching episode one of this show, and I'm not sure if I even smiled. Basically we have three girls, one the level-headed foil of the other two who are both airheads--the sleepy airhead (purple hair) and the rambunctious airhead (pink hair). Really, these two dimwits are more annoying than amusing. At times their behavior verges on fingernails screeching on a chalkboard. At least the character designs make it clear that these are sweet, goofy girls rather than sexy ones. I was tempted to quit at the halfway station break, but hung on just in case there were any serious jokes in the second half. There weren't, nor was there any sign of a longterm plot, which tells me that there is nothing to this show but the painfully boring antics of completely uninteresting characters. There are plenty of credible all-girl comedies out there, and I would be better off to rewatch something like, say, Lucky Star.
