Psychic Detective Yakumo centers around our titular lead who runs his own detective agency to resolve cases involving spirits as one of his eyes allow him to see spirits. Episodes in the series are seemingly episodic cases that Yakumo tends to, but hints are dropped of someone sinister manipulating events to get what he wants out of Yakumo. These events are further fleshed out as the series progresses, which provide more fleshing out of Yakumo's character in how he became acquainted with certain characters that adopted or aid him and dealing with his ability to see spirits while younger. This provides Yakumo's character a good amount of depth as we get to see how his past affected his present mentality as it was a rather tragic one thanks to the problems that being born with with his eye's abilities and shows there is more to him beyond the lazy, cold and aloof character that one would believe him to be at first glance. Other characters in the series get a decent amount of fleshing out as we come to learn of any connections they have to Yakumo (whether supportive or antagonistic) or however characters are connected with souls still lingering within the afterlife. Only sore spots are the main villains in this series being a bit shallow as characters and the title ending inconclusively as one of our villains are still at large by the end of the series, implying that there is still more to the series to be told. Beyond that, I kind of regret dropping this series years ago as there was more to enjoy from it than what I assumed. Would definitely recommend to fans of supernatural and mystery anime.

(One episode watched): This seemed kind of fun early on, but went downhill afterwards. The case came together a little too conveniently; it didn't take long to guess who was the guilty party. Only one suspect was introduced, instead of several possible ones, and sure enough this was the person Yakumo was after. What's more, this was a shallow, 100% evil person rather than having an interesting personality. Yakumo seems a little too cool to me; and of course he has a supernatural 'gadget'.
