Potemayo Specials
These are basically more TV episodes, with OP and ED sequences identical to the originals, except they are shorter--each one contains only one "Pote" (subplot) instead of two. Again, quality seems identical to the original series. In Special one, Pote somehow has grown far larger; this was semi amusing but also slightly disappointing to me. In number two something mysterious is bothering Moriyama. A strange new character emerges, who may or may not reappear; I kind of hope it doesn't, because it's too weird for me and seems to be getting too serious whereas I enjoy the nonsensical silliness of Potemayo. In special three a lonely salarywoman who stops at a convenience store late each night starts running into Pote there. This is my favorite special so far; the woman seemed like an interesting person who I could sympathize with right from the start. In special four, Pote is allowed to go shopping alone, and winds up in a fast-food restaraunt. Basically, one long buildup to a single modest joke--I was surprised when the credits began to roll, because I was certain that there must be something more to this one. Still, amusing if not exactly hilarious. In episode five Moriyama's class is preparing for the School Festival. It was smile-funny, but I didn't detect any long-term plot; the festival itself won't occur until episode six (or later).
