Majokko Tsukune-chan appears to be a good witch who employs her magic to maintain order in Japan. Nobody else seems to have a synopsis, so we'll have to do with this.

Six approximately 10-minute OVAs.
Japanese title: "魔女" = "majo" ("witch"), "っ娘" = "ko"/"musume" ("child"/"daughter"), "つくね" = Tsukune (name, also "fish meatloaf"), "ちゃん" = "-chan"

This is one goofy show! Having a little time on my hands, I thought I'd take a look at one of the shows I had downloaded in MKV mode (and knew nothing at all about) and that was the impression I got instantly from the OP sequence. "Rabbit Man" quickly had me exclaiming "WTF?!" (while laughing) which was a good sign--the way Tsukune provided him with some food was good, too. What I like about this show is the way crazy words and acts come out of nowhere, completely unexpected and completely hilarious (see episode one for some hints of what to expect). This 13-minute opening episode contained no less than four segments (though one was so short it's barely worth counting, but it was funny). The ED song is especially soothing and enjoyable (and apparently was performed by a sizeable orchestra). Majokko Tsukune-chan is quite possibly the weirdest (and funniest) mahou shoujo show I've ever seen--you have to see it for yourself to understand. Despite the simple SD mode animation, this one might not be best suited to children (what was Tsukune doing to that frog?!).

Fansubs 3-5 have become available! I must single out episode four as one of those all-too-rare shows which just cracked me up laughing. Only this show would include a character like "Watermelon Master". Episode five was hilarious as well, with both the magic lamps/genies and the good and evil Santas. You might call this slapstick, since people keep getting hurt, but you are laughing too hard to cringe. My only reservation is that I don't know how many times these sort of jokes can be replayed and remain funny. But at least the first time around Majokko Tsukune-chan definitely has a far higher LPM (Laughs Per Minute) rate than most anime comedies. For your own good, you must watch this show, I'm begging you.

My favorite line (so far): "Santa-san was sniped!" --Tsukune-chan
