The visuals for this are solid for the most part. Battle scenes are nicely animated with large fleets of battleships rendered in CG animation as they battle one another and a number of the scenic shots of space scenery is rather pleasing on the eyes. The Nodos are nicely drawn and have their own unique abilities that see battles between them a joy to watch. Only sore spot is the rather plain-looking character designs for human characters. Overall, I'm rather indifferent towards Heroic Age. It seemed like the series wanted to be some sort of epic-style space opera with its premise. But its plot mostly recycles space opera story tropes and the characters are too paper thin to relate to them on an individual level. If you want good space opera anime, you're better off looking into titles like the Crest of the Stars franchise and Legend of the Galactic Heroes. Last updated Wednesday, December 31 2014. Heroic Age is mostly standard fare for a space opera-style series as humanity gains a powerful ally in the form of Age to lead them against the threat brought about through the powerful Silver Tribe, who have their own group of members who are as powerful as Age. The characters are mostly archetypal in their role and don't have much going for them in terms of dimension or depth to a great extent, with Age always being the simple-minded hero, Dhianelia the idealist princess, her brothers being power-hungry loons with no regard for anything besides personal fame and glory, a pacifist among the Nodos of the Silver Tribe, etc... The series also plays out the typical tropes of space opera with Age and those among humanity journeying to reclaim the Earth from Silver Tribe influence and continually being confronted by Silver Tribe forces, who see humanity as inferior and desire to wipe them all out. It's as black and white as you can get for a space opera title, and not really breaking any new ground for the genre. ||||||||

Although its style is fairly stiff, Heroic Age turned out to be a surprisingly good SciFi series with a interesting and coherent story and a satisfying conclusion.

Originally I did not like this show. After re-reviewing episode one, i have changed my opinion somewhat...I do like how the mecha is drawn, still not sure about the people, but they are growing on me...at least they have noses...I am starting to like/understand the story a bit and am actually anxiously awaiting episode 2...

So if you like space-opera story (like Tytania or LofGH) then you might enjoy this tale. Otherwise the animation and music are both good and the story is fluid and dynamic, so it is easy to give this title a fun RENT rating. In episode 2 - The princess mentions the 12 labors (or terms) set forth by the Gold Tribe under which AGE/Nodoss is to assist the Iron Tribe (or humanity). The conditions of the contract are as follows:

What starts off an interesting character-driven story quickly shifts to an epic battle of super-beings battling for the destiny of the human race. ||||||||
