Together with her Tachikomas, Right when Kusanagi is about to break into that subnet (to find evidence for Gouda having created the "Individual Eleven" phenomenon by a computer virus), she and Batou are called by Aramaki to work on a different case, so Bomer has to make that dive instead of her. It's not that I were a splatter fan, and my suspense of disbelief is usually about zero when it comes to that ridiculous technobabble like "when you've done that, encrypt and compress your offensive firewall". (How would an "offensive firewall" - kind of contradiction by itself - be able to run as application if it were compressed, and what would compressing that application be good for anyway? Plus there are self-extracting applications, you know...).
But everything else about this episode is just great - be it the parallel development during the fight on several fronts, the annoying feeling of always being one step too late, the cooperative decoding method of that virus, or the shocking final scene. That's some carnage that actually makes sense.
The best bet for the meaning of episode title "SELECON" that I found would be the manufacturer of some Ellipsoidal reflector spotlight (in the context of that final scene being live on air in TV).
