Junko has been abducted by Tanigawa Seiji, and after an unpleasant dream about her, Kanta wakes up. Kosuna explains how he fainted and would have frozen to death if it hadn't been for her. Together they follow Tanigawa's distinctive tracks until they notice three more sets of footprints running parallel to his. They spot three men wearing the same awesome desert suits as he does, and following him as well. Kanta tells Kosuna they'll make a little detour to an abandoned mine nearby. As Tanigawa attempts to repair his damaged transmitter, he admits that Kanta was a formidable opponent--unlike several previous bodyguards Junko hired, who he made mincemeat of using his desert suit. They are startled by an explosion, and by voices which he recognizes as three bloodthirsty mercenaries who were hired to test the variations of the new suit. The three men give Tanigawa ten minutes to surrender; Junko urges him to do so, but he's certain they'll be murdered anyhow. He makes a surprising offer to keep the mercenaries busy while Junko attempts to escape. The time runs out and the mercenaries open fire, and Tanigawa replies in kind...

I was expecting this episode to wrap up a two-parter with the usual funny twist at the end, but the story takes a sort of dark twist instead, with predictions of brutal reprisals against the workers at Balls a' hurtin', one character brutally beaten, and another arrested. Also, with two mysterious persons watching what's going on, this arc can't be over yet. It's hard to sympathize with Seiji, who clearly killed several of Junko's previous bodyguards. As I compared the dubbed version of this episode to the subbed one, the thought occured to me, why did I find some of the profanity used in the dub to be offensive when just a few days ago a swearword laden fansub of Kujibiki Unbalance (TV) cracked me up? I think it's because there's funny profanity, and there's vulgar profanity. I think the principal difference may be that vulgar profanity is used (directly or indirectly) to insult other people and put them down. Dirty language is funny when the characters are unwittingly making fun of themselves. One of the things I like about anime is that it comes from a less vulgar culture than mine.
