Yoake Tsugeru Lu no Uta
More spectacle than substance, Lu Over the Wall focuses on Kai befriending the titular mermaid when bored over his dull life in the fishing town he moves to with his father following his parents' divorce. The film is rather fun whenever Lu makes her presence felt in the film, but its attempts to focus on several ongoing plot threads with its characters aren't as engaging due to getting a bit too convoluted to follow at points and lacking a truly satisfying conclusion to each one. In addition for a movie, the animation for Lu Over the Wall is rather rough to look at and looks like something that was whipped up in Adobe Flash, making it seem a bit amateurish in quality. Overall while having its fun moments, Lu Over the Wall is mostly a mediocre romp due to its convoluted choice of storytelling and subpar visuals.
