NEET Kunoichi to Nazeka Dousei Hajimemashita

There are shows with interesting or amusing premises which expand on them, developing the characters and building an intriguing plot. And there are shows with similar premises which are content to just run 4-koma quality jokes for the remainder of their run time. This show seems to be one of the latter. A giveaway was the fact that Atsumi doesn't ask any of the obvious questions, like how can a person be both a Ninja and a NEET? Or, what did Shizuri mean when she said his 'warrior blood was awakening'? Another giveaway was the fact that little effort is made to develop the characters. About all we know about Atsumi at the end of episode one is that he is 'devastatingly bad at socializing', but we have no idea why. Shizuri somehow lives the stereotypically indolent lifestyle of a NEET, yet is a deadly fighter when need be--again, we have no idea why. Predictably, the first of additional ninja show up to accuse Atsumi of corrupting Shizuri and, in all likelihood, to gravitate into his harem. When even more characters are being introduced before we even get to know the principal ones is not a good sign--and the fact that this second Ninja (green-haired Ayame Momochi) also has a bizarre second personality, a 'crazy psycho-lesbian', is not a good sign either. For some reason the OP sequence ran twice during episode one, which seemed to be subdivided into three subplots. I might easily be intrigued if there was some sign of believable romance between two interesting characters, but my conclusion was that this show was principally a comedy but wasn't particularly funny and therefore I might as well be done with it.
