Kaoru, a Japanese salarywoman, collapsed on a street one night and found herself in the presence of an apologetic God. This diety explained that he had accidentally killed her while dealing with a 'distortion', and while she could not be revived on Earth she could be reincarnated in another world, 'Verny'. In Verny the quick thinking Kaoru drives a hard bargain with Celestine, Verny's Goddess, and is granted a number of overpowered skills that will help her survive, including an Item Box and, most importantly, the ability to freely create potions that will have whatever effect she desires. "I'm Nagase Kaoru, and I shall survive using potions!"

(Two episodes watched):

Another 'gag isekai' series--one in which someone goes to another world but makes some sort of odd choice about what abilities they will have, like maxxing their defensive skills or fighting only slimes, or whatever. At least the lesser jokes in this show were fairly funny, unlike most. Stuff like the dream encounter Kaoru has with her family in order to say goodbye (another concession she demanded from the guilty feeling Gods) or the surpise Celestine experiences when she sees how familiar Kaoru already is with the video game-like rules by which Verny operates. Kaoru learns quickly and is a skillful manipulator of other people. Being able to create a potion that can do anything you please and an Item Box to hide anything you want and knowing how to use them effectively are pretty awesome powers, apparently. Indeed, I wondered if she might have become a sort of Superman without Kryptonite--a superhero who can do virtually anything and has no particular weakness to create tension and drama. At any rate, the plot did not excite me much; it seemed like something between children's grade anime and quality stuff written for thinking adults. In episode two Kaoru quickly draws the attention of the ruling class, which I recall tends to happen in other gag isekai series as well. The whole notion of being reincarnated because of a God's mistake has been done before, and I doubt if enough jokes and twists can be squeezed out of the use of potions for this show to remain fresh for an entire season. I'm reminded of the anime about being reincarnated as a vending machine, which seemed totally novel and surely clever at first, but quickly ran out of steam in my opinion. It seems that the one thing gag anime have in common is that before long the gag is largely forgotten and they become pretty typical isekai series.
