I sat up and took notice when the demon lord and hero seemingly killed each other--that doesn't happen every day. But it would seem that the hero isn't dead after all, despite being impaled with a big sword, since surely he and Blade are one and the same. There is some definite high tech in what had otherwise seemed a sword & sorcery show. Another interesting touch was the curse red-haired Fleming (a girl) is under and how Blade helps her break it. It was kind of neat how she is transformed from stuck-up bitch to heroine we can sympathize with in the space of one episode. Just where this is going remains unclear after the opening episode, but I think I will watch some more. Blade meets yet another female hero candidate with a strange background in episode two. White-haired 'Sophie' turns out to be a clone and the product of a questionable government project to manufacture artificial heroes. There seems to be a sort of a harem coming together. We also learn that Blade has largely lost the superpowers he once had, though he still seems pretty awesome to me. The jokes--many of which were of a visual nature--were genuinely amusing. So far, so good. Last updated Wednesday, August 16 2023. Created Sunday, July 30 2023. |
