When I was about to enter my review of this show, I first did a check to see if anyone else had already created a page for it. I found that there was already a page for Irregular--except it was a 2014 page. That was when I realized that Visitors Arc is actually a sequel of a show which I had already reviewed and then completely forgotten about. That seemed to square pretty well with my impression of Visitors Arc as a pretty unmemorable show. I sort of got the feeling that lots of things were happening but none of them were really novel. Perhaps I hadn't completely forgotten the original series, because I got the feeling that I'd seen this stuff many times before. At one point the background music was implying danger and mystery, but I wasn't feeling it. As two major characters, Tatsuya and Angelina, are introduced to us I wondered who was going to be the hero and who the villain? Was trashing an (unidentified) fleet off the coast of South Korea OK? Maybe that happened in the original series and the assumption here is that anyone watching this show will have seen that one as well. With the benefit of a second thought, Tatsuya can't be a villain because he's Japanese while Angelina is American. But I bet they'll wind up working together against some nefarious third faction that has yet to appear--it's pretty easy to predict the general direction shows like this will go. But I think this series has made the classic mistake of not making the main characters interesting enough for the viewer--at least a new viewer--to care much about how they fare. Instead, this show seems to rely a lot on the supposed coolness of magic, with 'interference magic' and 'psionic particles' and so forth. But worlds where those who can exploit magic rule kind of annoy me, because they seem like just another system where there is an elite that pisses on everyone else. At any rate, pretty much nothing about this show struck me as interesting and unless it gets fantastic ratings from other critics I won't be watching it.
