I picked this one up a while back since I ran out of things to watch. I layed around on my hard drive for a few months and finally decided to sit and watch. My thoughts....?

Art, Animation & Character Designs
Artwork does show it's age.... a bit. This isn't to say it was bad but just that it being released in an earlier decade is evident. Colors seemed vibrant and details were pretty fair. Character designs were also pretty well done, although at times it does lack a bit of detail. One thing that bothered me was Elle's hair ends that curves down, up and over her cheek. Looks like a pair of husks.

Music
The OP wasn't a bad piece. It was an upbeat rock-ish piece with female vocals. For the most part, the soundtrack contains some irish or scottish style of music. Think Braveheart and you'll get this soundtrack pretty much.

Series and Episode Story
The one thing that sort of bothered me was our protagonist, Elle. She was just way too musculin and looked to manly. But I must admit, she was one bad-assed character nevertheless. For the most part, this series revolves around one-on-one battles.... to see who's the biggest, baddest warrior. With that said, there isn't much of a plot.... although near the last several episodes, we start getting a semblance of one. Some of the battle scenes were pretty outrageous but still pretty impressive.... if you're into streetfighter style fighting.

Overall, it wasn't too bad but at times does get sort of monotonous with all the mindless battles. It's still a fair watch if you've got nothing else to watch, or if you're serious into one-on-one style of fighting.

I'll be frank. I was very disappointed with this series. Right off the bat, I was disinterested in the first disc. I actually slept through one episode. I probably didn't miss much. It's sad to think that the original was much better than the TV series but this shows that even the best can turn out bad. I was going to continue the series just to see if it got better, but with my hopes completely shattered, I'm just going to avoid watching the rest. I know it's a very bad habit to only judge something partially watched, but what I saw from the first disc was the nail in the coffin for me. I'm just so disappointed by the lack of effort of the storywriters. The story was the reason why it killed me. It was dull and had no major plot except for the main characters to go to Karuda which was just too simple. I want to explain the rest. You make the decision. This by far the most boring anime series I have seen next to Arcade Gamer Fubuki. Absolutely lame.

Born Legend, the opening to Shadow SKill, has to be the greatest opening song i have ever heard for an anime, all you Brave Heart bag pipe fans out there eat your heart out. As far as the anime itself, its a pretty good production, considering it came out in like 1998, the animation quality is top notch. THe character designs are super, Elle for one maintins an unusual muscular pyshic for a female main character, but i still love her. The story it self might not be appelaing top every anime fan since it mainly revovles around battles etc so if you are looking for romance and intense character development. If you like Shonen animes, then this is made for you. THe main character is an eccentric female and is a breathe for fresh air for protagonists in this Genere of anime.
