Komugi Yoshida is a somewhat clumsy second-year middle-school student whose strong point is her spiritedness. She performs as an idol like Kokona Saionji (her classmate and close friend) and Tsukasa Kisaragi (an idol who dresses in male clothing). One day, a mysterious injured creature named Usa-P appears before Komugi and asks if she wants to be a Legendary Girl who can use magical powers. She reluctantly becomes Magical Nurse and fights waves of masked figures.

(One episode watched):

Sometimes old, fairly popular characters are revived as new anime series. All too often, however, their reincarnations don't do the originals justice, and seem like cheap attempts to milk the popularity of the original anime without making much effort at producing a good new one. NWK-cR struck me as one of these; not a terribly bad, offensive show, but a completely lackluster, milquetoast one. It feels like a half-hearted, half-assed show that was cranked out because there was a spot in the Winter 2016 schedule that had to be filled somehow or other. The plot and characters seemed boring and utterly predictable. Another magical girls show but without any effort to make it distinctive in any way. The original Komugi-chan anime were spinoffs of a show with a somewhat dark aura (IIRC), but any hint of that has been discarded here to create one more pretty inane and generic Mahou Shojo series. People will not watch a distinctly inferior remake just as a vote of confidence in the original (I hope). I was left thinking, why watch this when I have the old OVAs on my shelf?
