Another of your typical slice-of-life comedies milking both the "high school gal pals with eccentric quirks" and the current fad of "girls involved in school club involving weaponry of some sort", Sabagebu milking use of airsoft guns in the same vain as Stella Women's Academy. Unlike Stella though, Sabagebu has a more comical bent to its airsoft gun battles as the club members get entangled in over-the-top battles against enemy threats and has a fair amount of fan service with the girls of the club usually being in states of undress, bathing or wearing bikinis. Like many slice-of-life comedies of its ilk, I was mostly indifferent to the show's comedy due to how oversaturated the genre has been. If the "school club of girls with weapons" gimmick and slice-of-life comedies are your thing, you are likely to get more enjoyment out of this series than I did.

Unevaluated Stretch [series:2928#628]
(One episode watched):

This is one of those shows where, while you obviously can't predict exactly what's going to happen in advance, nothing that does happen really surprises you or makes you sit up and take notice. While my hopes were raised a touch by the unusual character designs, which suggested a little originality, in the end there was very little of that and I was disappointed. Basically, Sabagebu is the usual mix of boobs, guns, and a handful of so-so laughs--the same fare as we got from several previous anime with similar premises. The stereotypical characters are too crazy to be true, and there's a hint of yuri. This show was so unexceptional that I couldn't think of much to say about it, so I began wondering what might have been done to improve it. Maybe if instead of just being gunhappy the girls had been aware that behaving as they do is frowned upon, and felt a little doubt about whether what they were doing was the best choice, since guys might be turned off, for example. Maybe if they were obliged to choose between friendship and conformity. But why take chances with that when bouncing boobs will guarantee that the show will be a modest success, and guns will add insurance?
