Urotsukidoji: Legend of the Overfiend dabbling into tentacle rape and showing how horniness can make both men and women destructive and stupid if they give too much into it, this effectively shown when Ryou getting raped triggers the worst transformation he has to deal with later in the film. The anime's highlights with visuals, in spite of the supposed "shoestring budget" that its adult animation series was on, comes with the uniquely drawn designs of the monster transformations that Ryou experiences whenever aroused. While the half-hour time span does limit how much exploration this anime can dabble into for its story and characters, there's still enough offered and explored with the premise in its satirizing of perversion where it's a decent hidden gem of the 80s and one I'd at least recommend checking out at least once.

Do have to admit this was a unique title. A sort of supernatural horror-comedy, Call Me Tonight deals with a young man who can transform into a monstrous being whenever he gets sexually aroused and a call girl attempting to help him control the transformations through coping with perverted things. The anime seems to have a perceptive and somewhat snarky approach to its humor with lambasting the world of hentai for its time period with titles like ||||||||

Ah, this was a fun surprise. Judging from the title, I had expected a generic short romance story, but that wasn't what I got. It quickly became clear that this show had a kinky side to it, and for a while I feared it might be out-and-out hentai, but it didn't really cross the line. This was a wild mix of ecchi, comedy, and the supernatural--kind of hard to take seriously, but it takes off running, moves fast and holds your interest with a decent plot. A bizarre, unlikely tale which doesn't make much sense but does make some, and uses comedy to compensate. There are few clear-cut jokes, with punchlines and all, mainly the plot itself is one big, clever joke. The wild characters are also a definite plus. Art and animation are very 80's style, and the show has a hasty, herky-jerky feel to it rather than flowing smoothly. I wasn't laugh-out-louding, but it was fun and thinking back about it brings a grin to my face. I'm glad this one didn't slip through my fingers.||||||||
